Mr and Mxs James Purnell (AuckUnd) are the guests of Mr and Mrs James Graham, Wicksteed street. Mrs and the Misses Dixon (2), Wilson street, have been on a visit to your city. They returned by Monday's express. ■

Mrs T. Williams, Ingestre street, returned home last week from Christchurch. Her sister, Mrs Sewle, returned with her. '■■'' . .

Captain Broadhouse, of the s.s. Storm, and Mrs Broadhcuse, intend spending a couple of months -here, and have itaken a furnished house for that time. Their home is ini Lyttolton. Miss Alexander, Ingestre street, gave an enjoyable garden party oni Thursday afternoon last. The day was an ideal one, and the beautiful grounds were, looking their best. There were a great many ladies present, and some beautiful gowns were worn.
