A meeting of millers and grain merchants, all the local firms being represented, discussed the question of the exorbitant penalty for overweigjrt sacks of grain. It was pointed out that the anomaly of several penalties for the samo oft'ence could never have been intended by the Legislature,- and it was resolved to communicate with the Minster asking that the by-law - be altered so that a uniform penalty should be imposed, and that a margin of-51b be allowed on the average of a consignment that is, if the average docs not exceed 20Slb gross, no penalty snould be imposed. A deputation was ap-. pointed to wait on 1 tho Minister.
