WELLINGTON KENNEL CLUB Following is the text of the annual report to bo presented at the twenty-third annual general meeting of the Wellington Kennel Club, to be held in Armit's rooms. Lambton quay, next Thursday: MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE'S REPORT. The committee has pleasure in presenting the twenty-third annual report and statement of accounts for the year ending December 81st, 1003. Before dealing with the operations of the past year, the committee respectfully refers to the irreparable loss, sustained by our president, in the death of hi* daughter. Mips Jessie Hunter. The club extends its deepest sympathy to Mr Hunter and family, and sadly records the loss of the' keenest lady fancier in New Zealand.

The club has come successfully through a strenuous financial period, and it is gratifying to note that the outstanding liabilities from previous : years have all been liquidated.

The 1909 annual show proved a success from every point of view, despite the fact that: a more suitable hall was not procurable. It is hoped that a more con venient "building will be available thii year. > , We again extend our thanks to the specialist clubs for the support so cordially extended during the past year. We are pleased to see the New Zealand Fox Terrier Club dealing so firmly with matters pertaining to mutual co-opera-tion, and removing any antagonistic spirit from the club. It is'our aim to encourage and to cordially assist these specialist clubs, and harmonious working will ensure the success of all concerned. The newly-f">rmed Pointer and Sr:Her Club lias our best wishes. The action of the New Zealand F'ox Terrier Club in consolidating tho allotment of its, trophies, and so annually to have a special show for terriers at tlm principal centres in rotation is looked upon with interest and confidence. Tt is pleasing to record that the motion of this club to establish annunllv two challenge awards for. every breed Imp been successfully inaugurated by tho N-Z.TC.C. This "must be satisfactory to all fanciers. .

As previously, our relationship with kindred societies has been most cordial, and our thanks are extended for their courtesy. To those supporters who have kindly made donations during, the year, our sincei-e annreci.ition of their help is again expressed. TREASURER'S REPORT. ,

It is a greater pleasure to review the past, year from a financial point of, view than its predecessor. During 1909 till©dub was able to pay the legacy.of debts, amounting to nearly .£6O, which lad. been left from the previous year, and there is now a small credit balance with., which to , commence the new year after allowance for all liabilities. I would urge upon the incoming committee and officers the necessity for careful management and strict economy. The olub is greatly in. need of nowbenching ' divisions. lliieso • sJnould be obtained if upssible during 1910, and the means" of dKswj so depends upon the careful adunSßAratioin of our limited funds. ... ". j, The revenue may be readily ' imcreaisotf. in further niembership fees,,; and.' in this direction, as in many others, those interested in the dub may-do a great It'would ivrt 1-.*'complete to mention the oluVo-financial position without re-ici-once' to the assistance rendered by our president/ Mr Paul Hunter. More material help has been made by Mr Hunter than, any member would realise, and I may say that it is largely due lo his generosity _ that the club is now in a sound position. AVdth , ordinary honesty there is no Teascn why tihc Club sho,uld go back; and with careful management it, must go ahead. I hope tho latter course will be continued , in the future. The finances of the' club, although in an almost hopeless condition at the beginning of last year, were taken m hand ,!jy Mr Percy' 11. Smith, and out of chaos ho' has replaced the institution once more on a firm basis. Nearly .£OO m debt was rather a stifl, obstacle to. overcome, but some members of the committee came forward , with ■: financial guarantees which proved their abundant i confidence in Mr Smith's ability to re- ] vive the club. By careful management and capable handling of the business transactions and methods the hou. trea- , surer has been rewarded with success. The receipts for the year totalled

£•239 6s 3d. Some of the principal items under this heading are:—Donations, JJ'-G 18s 6d; subscriptions, £l6 10s; gate inonev, .£35 7s Cd; entry fees .£125 lis Sd. Expenditure totalled .£230 12s Cd, thus leaving a credit balance of -£8 13s 9d in the bank. The principal items under expenditure included— Outstanding accounts from previous year, £ls 7s 3d; a contingent liability of i-'5; and sundry creditors (about) .£1 ss, prize inonev, £<& 9s; printing, advertising, etc., '.£2l 4s sd; schedules aud catalogues, .£ls; show labour, .£lO 6s nudges' fees, .£S 9s; refund advances made previous year, .£ll Gd.
