THE “N.Z. TIMES ” GREAT VOTING CONTEST

PREPARATIONS FOE CLOSING THE CONTEST CANDIDATES GETTING READY FOR THE FINAL ONSLAUGHT. Invitations to be issued to all of New Zealand to witness tho Exoiting Finish - There was no plumping yesterday, and only one change was made among the first twenty—Mr Taylor moving up one ■ position, lhat ominous calm that presages tho fierceness of tho storm is already clearly obvious among tho earnest candidates. I'Tom every portion of the hustings come reports of new sub-committcos, strengthening of the existing ones, and a punctillious regard for detail that augurs an implacable determination to win. 1 The combatants are slowly but surely marshalling their hosts in battle array for tho final onslaught on March 19th, and they will ignore no scheme or plan that will secure fox them tbo greatly coveted ballot, with its pleasant potency. Organisation's tho thing, and no political campaign was over fought out in Now Zealand with more system behind it than tho one now being conducted by tho candidates in this contest. The contest will close in a Mazo of excitement. There will bo , heaps of fun and plenty ofamusement for tho thousands of out-of-town visitors and all ellington folk who will witness the scene. Tho Contest Department is perfecting a programme for tho benefit of the spectators, which will include a screen on which will be thrown tho pictures of the leaders and the result of tho balloting. An elaborate invitation will shortly bo issued, and if yon should hy any mischance fail to get yours, kindly consider yourself invited, and don’t fail to be here on Mr-’-ch lOth. The figures this morning:—
