Miss Nioholls, New Plymouth, is visiting her sister, Mrs Aldridge, Liverpool' street. The Misses Walker (3), Ingestre street, are spending a fortnight’s holiday in. Wellington.. Misses Hamilton (2) left by Monday’s mail train for Timaru, where they intend spending a few weeks. Miss Gibbins, Wanganui, intends taking up the nursing profession, and is now a probationer in a private hospital in your city. Miss Rogers has resigned her position as organist of St. Homan Catholic Church. She left this week for Napier, where she intends residing. Nurse Bertrem, Auckland, wasiin Wanganui for her final examination, which she passed. While here she was the guest of Mr and Mrs J. MoParlane, The Avenue. Mrs Leon Wilkie, Perth, is spending a few months in Now Zealand. She is at present staying -with' Mr and Jura Campion. ter of Mr and Mrs W. XI. G. Poster, Balleymena House, to Mr W. Martin limes, chief engineer of the Westport Goal Company's s.s. Regulus, and son of Mr W. Martin Innes (Innesville), Port Chalmers. The annual match between tho Maxtou and Wanganui tennis clubs will take place on tho Marton courts on Saturday next. The following players will represent the local club: —Messrs Harold, Earle, Tuke, Lea, Fletcher, E. B. Davies; emergencies: Messrs Barstow, Izard, and Ritchie. A very pretty wedding took place at St. John's Church, on Monday last, when Mr Bertram Yeates (England), head accountant of our local gas office, was married to Miss Phoebe Elizabeth (Nurse) Creech (Blenheim). Both are well known and general favourites in town. r lhe ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. O. Williams. The bride, who was given away by Mr W. K. McLean, wore a beautiful Empire gown of white Bengalino silk, trimmed with silk laoo and silver tassels, with Brussels net veil, and orange blossoms. She was attended by Mieses Phyllis McLean (chief bridesmaid) and Muriel MoCuliy. They wore dainty whit© muslin frocks, inlet with -lace insertion, pale blue stockings and shoes, and carried whit© crooks ornamented with clusters of cream roses tied with blue ribbons.- They also wore gold pendant brooches set with pearls and amethysts,, th© gift of the bridegroom. Mr W. McCaul acted as best man. After th© ceremony the bridal party and guesta were entertained at a garden party by Mr and Mrs W. K. McLean at their residence, King's Avenue; Heads road, delicious afternoon tea being laid under a large awning on the lawn. Mrs ‘McLean received in a white muslin and insertion gown, with large whit© crinoline hat swathed with whit© tulle and strappings and rosettes of old rose ribbon. Mr and Mrs Yeates left by the afternoon train ©n route for the Sounds, where th© honeymoon will be spent. Th© bride travelled in a. dark grey tailortaade gown, with muslin vert and old rose hat. , ’ They were the recipients of some beautiful presents, including a full set of table silver and cutlery from the office staff.
