Brennan., Burns, Lewis and Gray, each disclaimed any conspiracy to bring about a strike, and urged that they had acted innocently on their own 'initiative in carrying out their duties as minors’ officials.

Burns, referring to certain evidence given at tho trial, said that w-hen in replying t'6 a question he advised tho wives and children of the steelworkers to “steal” broad he meant “steel it.” He had Intended this —as it was taken —as a pun.
