RAISING CADETS’ SHOOTING RECORDS.

DANNEVIRKE DOES IT! It is remarkable how the quality of shooting has improved in New Zealand since the use of "C.A.C/' cartridges has become more general. . Last year we heard of wonderful scores made at Trentham. Since then the youngsters have been taking a hand.' We have heard of the record of the cadets of the Woodville High School; but even more remarkable still is the record of the Dannevirke North School Cadets. Shooting at Palmerston North on the 17th December, in competition with other cadets from nearly all th© other provincial centres of the North Island, the Dannevirke boys made 827 out of U possible 840 points. One boy. Nelson Law, scored sixtysix consecutive bull’s-eyes. Another boy. Sergeant Mclntyre, won th© Abraham Championship Belt and a silver cup. The Dannevlrke team secured the greater number of trophies given, at the meeting. This cadet movement is the hope of the country, so far as Defence is concerned, and the fact that the boys are supplied with ammunition that enables them to make these splendid records is itself an encouragement to them. The Daiuneviirk© boys, of course, fired “C.A.C." cartridges, .310, throughout. It is no disparagement of thedr marksmanship to say that the fact that they knew every cartridge was certain and sure was a help to them. The best marksman is helped if he has complete confidence in bis ammunition. •
