HARBOURS ACT AMENDMENT
PEBSS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, December 7. At the Harbour Board meeting this iaf ternoon the chairman moved: "That I this board strongly protests against any | clause being inserted in the Harbours Act Y Amendment Bill, or in any other Imeasure, giving power to the Governori in-Councdl to grant leases to private inidividuals of any tidal lands within the jurisdiction or control of harbour boards [whereby such individuals would have j power to reclaim such lands." The I chairman pointed out that under this I clause harbour boards would be preventied from taking land so leased, even if .•they required it: The motion was carried.
