THE INDIAN PERIL WIDESPREAD SECRET SOCIETY RAMIFICATIONS. AGENTS IX EVERY VILLAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received February 16, 10.40 p-.m.) LONDON, February 10. It is reported by the Dacca correspondent of "The Times" that an Act recently passed in India aiming at the suppression of sedition has had an alarming effect. As a result of its being put into operation some societies in Eastern Bengal which are known as tho National Volunteers have been converted into secret societies, with ramifications far and wide. The branch nt Dacca, an important cit\ r in Bengal, includes several thousand Brahmins and high caste Hindus, but no Mohammedan members; Tho societies are modelled on the lines of similar bodies in Russia, having three circles, the inner of which is tho really active one. There is an agent in every village. At present the societies only commit occasional acts of Daooity to obtain funds, but are in close touch with tho Anarchist organisation in 'Calcutta. Boso, the Bengali student who shot at and killed Biswas, the Public Prosecutor, whilo tho latter was engaged in tho Court at Alipur on the trial of some Anarchists, has ibeen sentenced to death.
