LEVIN ITEMS.
Air and Airs AValkeley (Ohau) were visitors for Christmas week at Levin.
Levin was very busy during the Christmas season, the • shops were all nicely decorated, and the townspeople did not lot the good old. Christinas cu-stoms die out. A great many local residents have had some comfortable cottages built out at the beach, and very gay the beach looked on Boxing Day. Mr and Airs AV. AI. Clark and family arc at their house at the beach for the holidays; Air and Mrs Haswofl and Air and Mrs Allaway arc there also until the New Year. Airs Gardiner (Alayoress), who has not: been well lately, intends going out next week, Alisa Sutherland will accompany her.
Alajor Buriinson entertained the visitors at the breaking-up ceremony at the training farm at afternoon tea last AVcdnesday. Christmas carols, which were played by the Boys’Training Farm Band, were much enjoyed.
A . crowd of picnickers congregated at the Horowhenua lake on Boxing Day, and every boat was in use. Many, being unable to get a boat, wore unablo to cross to tho other- side. A great many picnic parties went up to tho waterworks, which is one of the sheltered places for picnics. Several local people spent the day on the .bowling green. Mr and Airs A. J. Arnold/of “Heather Loa,” had a very large house party for Christmas, then* being between twenty and twenty-five present, and a very enjoyable time was spent. Most of tho guests left for their respective homes on Saturday.
Mr and Airs John Glover (Fdilding) were visitors to Levin during Christmas holidays.
Air and Airs F. Embury (Johnson ville), who have been visiting Air and Airs R. Harris, return, to their home on AVednesday.
Airs AVilson has enlarged the Elite Tea Rooms, and is now. prepared to cater for afternoon tea parties, which * will be much appreciated, especially by the country people.
Boat races are to take place every Wednesday afternoon after the end of December, the first to take place on January 6th.
The brigade sports take place on January 22nd at this Recreation Grounds.
The butter factory sports are on the same date.
Air AValkeley, who was unfortunately kicked by a horse on the beach on Boxing Day, has recovered sufficiently to return to town.
