The movement in favour of tho removal of Knox Presbyterian Church from its present position at Blackbridge, Lower Hurt, to a more central position, received a sot back at a congregational meeting in tho church tho oilier night. The proposal was condemned outright by a practically unanimous vote. A report from the committee of management was read sotting forth tho reasons advanced by certain members of the congregation in favour of the change and tho moans whereby tho project might be financed. It was suggested that tho section whereon the Sunday school stands (loss that portion occupied by , the school) bo sold for tho sura of £750, which sum, it was estimated, would cover tho cost of acquiring a suitable site in or near King’s road and removing tho church tfioreto. Tho Rev. AY. Alarshall presided at the meeting, which throughout expressed hostility to the project. Tho objectors wore not confined to those living in tho neighbourhood of the church, though these were the more uncompromising in their attitude. UPPER HURT TOWN BOARD.
