WELLINGTON COLLEGE GOVERNORS
MONTHLY MEETING. The Wellington College Governors met yesterday. Mr A, do B. Brandon presided and there were also presoul! Mr R. Leo and Miss Richmond. The statement of finances showed ‘a credit balance of £3G9, while there waa £1845 outstanding for Government! subsidies, rents and fees. Accounts amounting to £724 were passed foB payment. Messrs Penty and Blake, wrote informing the board that tho new College building was ready for occupation. It was decided that tho pnzegiving ceremony bo held in the now. building on December 11th, the function taking the place of a formal opening ceremony. As the Governor would be unable to preside it was resolved to leave the matter in tint hands of the chairman. A notification was received from tint Education Department that the Govornment Printer would furnish tins College library and the Girls’ College with copies of “Hudson’s Entomology 11 ' and “Animals of New Zealand." It was decided to have a form o! undertaking draivu up to bo signed by parents or guardians guaranteeing to pa’v the tuition fees of their children who might forfeit their free places through lack of attendance .or failing to receive a good report. It will only be necessary to come on the parents for tho fees in cases where the Government refuses to pay. If a “free place” scholar docs not average GO per cent of the possible attendances the “free place” is forfeited, except in cases of illness.
