PRIVATE SCHOOLS
GRANT FOR OFFICIAL INSPECTION. The Education' Department, with a view to bringing into effective operation the clauses of the Education Act providing for tho inspection of‘private schools upon request of their managers, intends to allocate a grant for each school inspected, so as to assist in paying tho cost • of tho inspection. Tho grant will be paid as follows: — (a) £1 for each private school inspected, under section 170 of the Education Act, 1908, during the year; and ■ (h) 6d for each pupil present at the time of inspection. A circular to Education Boards issued by the Department conveys the information given above, and states that each Board should after the close of the year forward a return giving the name of each school so inspected, its locality, and the number of pupils present at the date of inspection.
