OPERA HOUSE. "DR WAKE'S PATrENT." "Olivia" was again staffed by Mr Flcmmuig'a Company last evening. To-night "Dr Wake's Patient" will be presented—il.s one hundred and fiftieth performance in Australasia. It is little wonder that such a delightful play should be so great a success. Tue play is full of interest. There is a delightful blendintr ot pathos and ■ ccraedy throughout Uio production. As Lady Gerania. ■ Mies Beatrice Day has a rare opportunitj* of displaying what a charming comedienno she is. Mr Herbert Flemming will give another opportunity of witnessing his fine performance of tho old Devonshire farmer, Andrew Walce. Mr A. S. Homewood will be seen as Dr Wake. The Wellington season closes to-morrow evening. This is Mr Fleiurning's last tour of tho Dominion. THE TOWN HALL ORGAN. Mr Maughan Barnctt's sixth recital in his capacity as Town Hall organist was given last evening. Tho attendance of i ■■*»' public was iurge enough to demonstrate—if demonstration were necessary—that the people of Wellington have not extravagantly over-estimated their artistic requirements when it wao agreed that one of the best organs producible should bo installed in the Town Hall. Mr Barnett played a ''request programme"—a programme made up entirely of numbers which at former recitals had found favour, and of which a re-hearing was desired. And that programme vary clearly indicatod that musical taste in Wellington i 3 progressing upon an upward plane. The 'requests" were for music of a standard, not entirely classic, perhaps, but distinctly trending in that dirjetion Mr -ieW. was called upon to play such educational works' as Mendelssohn's first organ sonata, Schubert's "Cradle Song," rjajidcl's gavotte from the overture to "Otho." the famous prelud; to tho trilrrj act of Wagner's "Lohengrin" and Hoi* lin's "Spring bong." Each of tnoso numbers was oneirrd, and so intense was the enthusiasm of the audience that Mr Barnetv in every case was obliged to repeat tbe concluding pasoa-ges of theso compositions. THEATRE ROYAL. An additional attraction at tho Theatre Royal last evening in the form of an amateur rope-walking competition, was responsiole for a crowded audience. Mr luyh Lloyd, tho agilo performer on the tight, rope, offered i.2 cash to anyone whe would walk ncross his rope. . About half a dozen am*tours made the attempt, but

without sncccKS. ThQlr offorta created roars of laugutor, and the content not voted a big succcsb. To-night and tomorrow night competitions will bo held, and to-morrow evening Mr Lloyd concludes his scaeon. Mr Rud. descriptive vocalist, reappeared last evening, and his contributions "Boys Will b« Joys" and "That's How They Say Goodnight" woro vociferously encored. Th» last two nights of several members of tan company arc announced. "CINDERELLA" PANTOMIME. For tho forthcoming bcosou oi Messrs Anderson and Sheridan's pautoniimo "Oindorella" tho box-plan was opened at Hoi. liday's yostordav, and by last oveninK over 400 scats had been booked. Judging by tho patronage Messrs Audorson an* Sheridan have had extended to them ok previous visits to this city, tho pantomime season should bo a groat success. The company is expected to arrive from Sydney this morning by the Mocraki, and by courtesy of Mr Herbert Floinming. th» fitago haß been placed at tho company'f disposal, to start work so that evorj'thiUß may be in working ordor by Saturday, .Vest Monday afternoon the first childrcu'r matinee will bo given.
