SCULLERS IN TRAINING

WEBB AND TRESIDDER.

PREPARING FOR TUESDAY’S RACE. (Special to tho "N.Z. Times.” WANGANUI. February 21. Both Trcsidder and Webb have been putting the finishing touches on their training during the lost two days. Some very good work has been done. Trcsidder has been kept going, his work on land and water being very hard. Ho will ease up after to-morrow. Ho has gone through a preparation which would break up any ordinary man. but ho appears to thrive upon it, and seen to-day he looked as lively ana as fit ns could be wished. His Australian friends were surprised to see him in such excellent condition, and they all expect him to put up a good race. Ho had a couple of hard rows yesterday, indulging in some practice at starting also. Ho rowed very nicely indeed. Yesterday morning Webb took soma solid running and walking exercise instead of rowing, covering a couple of miles at a good pace, besides bill-climb-mg. In tho afternoon ho had a row over the full course accompanied by , letter had a couple of lengths start, but was well behind at the end of the first mile, though ha was rowing in good stylo. The paco was not and was kept up to tho finishing post, though he was not against tho watch. Green and he then had some smart sprints. This morning Webb did a steady row, and this attornoocn bad a over miles and back, xi.'Y 8 earing .faulty, and it is said that the Australian anticipates getting an advantage through this. Tresidde* i s a past master in steering his boat, always running as straight as a mV 3, i Webb zigzags now and again. I hough the majority of people hero look upon Webb as a sure winner there ar< a few staunch supporters of Tresiddoi among the local people. I expect Tresiddor to row n good game race, but fancy that when the post is reached the who broke Stanbury up so badly a littk over twelve months ago will be in front'
