Mr George Dalgleish, one of the original partners in tho sawmilling firm of McCallum and Co., died at Oamaru yesterday, aged 82. Some complimentary things were said regarding Mr ,L Maughan Barnett, the conductor of the Choral Society, at the annual meeting last night. Mr Aitken, M.P., said Mr Barnett was really one of the hardest working men in the city, and deserved all the success he could attain. The success of the society was due to the continued efforts of its very ca pable conductor. (Applause.) Mr Burton Boys, an old Wairarapa soitier, who died this week at Lansclownc, was clioscbi by the Government in 1863 —u time* of Maori scare—to organise the militia in the Wairarapa, and was subsequently appointed captain of the company then formed. His brother (the late Mr Boys, of Greytown) was at the' same time captain of a mounted troop of cavalry. . His Honor Mr Justice Chapman yesterday admitted the following geiitlemen to practise as barristers and solicitors of the Supremo Court;—Mr William Perry, on the motion of Mr B. Filzgibbon and Mr Humphrey; Francis O’Leary, on the motion of Mr Levi. On. the application of Mr Barnett, Mr George Henry Ryan was admitted as a solicitor, an was Mr Paul Grosvenor Miles, of Feilding, by his Honor Mr Justice Button, on the motion of Mr Johnston.
