During the past twelve months 1514 miles of railways hare been constructed in Canada, and there are now 3000 miles of lines in course of constraction. A well-known tobacco manufacturer estimates that at least a thousand pounds worth of tobacco is daily thrown away in unconsumed cigars and cigarettes.
