yesterday tEe ratepayers of Potens voted on the suggested routes to the new br.dgo which it has been decided to or.et over the Hutt river. '.There; win. a double ballot, yet only one bahot-poper. The ratepayers voted on the direct and alternative routes, and separately on ilia Esplanade route. The result of the voting waa as follows; For the direct route „ _ 113 For the alternative route 105 1 In. regard to the Esplanade route there were la 6 ayes and 161 nocs. The proposal for the direct rente was, therefore, carried. On thirty-one of the ballot-papers there waa no expression of opinion ou the Esplanade route, and there were six informal papers. Objection was expressed by many people to the term of the. ballot-paper.
