HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The first meeting of the newly ‘•looted Hospital Trustees ' was held yester-| day morning. The Hon. C. M. Luke, j M.L.C., occupied the chair, and the* following were also present:—Messrs G. London, W. H. Hales, G. A. The secretary reported that there were 111 male, and 80 female patients in the main hospital, a total of 191 as against 184 on the same, date last year. The fever patients totalled 25 us against 11 on the corresponding date last year. There were 19 male and 37 female patients in Victoria Hospital as against 39 on December 3rd, 1906, and there were 20 patients in Seddon Hospital. The grand total of patients in the institution was 247.

■The secretary of the . Wellington Bandsmen’s Hospital' Sunday Committee asked whether nurses would bo available for duty as collectors next Sunday, at the Basin Reserve gates, from 2 p.m. —It was decided to refor tho letter to Dr. Ewart to report. Mr H. D. Bell wrote asking whether the trustees Bad decided to take any action with regard to the proposal of the Wellington Club 1 to purchase the narrow strip between tho club’s tennis court and the read, also a strip to tho southwards of- tho club’s .boundary between that boundary and such land as the school committee required for its ■purposes.—Referred to tho Leases Committee to report. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs 9 A. Rhodes for a donation of ,C 3to the fund for providing “good cheer” for tho inflates, of the hospital at Christmostrde.

The chairman intimated that the question of the' fever hospital was one \vhiah caused the trustees considerable anxiety for a long time past. He explained what had taken place with the Government in respect to the matter, said it was one of groat urgency; .and considered it was an item which they would have to bring their judgment Ho hear upon shortly.

On the recommendation of the House Committee, a vote,of thanks was/passed to the Central Mission Band for its son ices at the -hospital during the past year. It was decided to accept their offer to give a performance op Sunday. 22nd inst., in aid of the patients’ Oli ristmas cheer fund.

’ n ' as decided to obtain particulars of the cost of an aerated water plant. It ivas 'derailed to obtain thirty loada of blue metal screenings for covering tile now drive, also a quantity of soil for tho grounds of Victoria Hospital. The names of Messrs Beared and Hales wore «ad<2ed to the Building Committee.
