MASTERTON NOTES.
CFrom Our Own Correspondent) : MASTERTON, December 3. The new hospital building is now completed, and will bo formally opened by the Hoa. Q. Fowl da on the 12th inst. The building has yet to be furnished and the fittings put in, bo it is not expected that the premise* will be occupied until the New Fear. Dr Valintine, Inspector-General of Hospital#, paid a visit of inspection today, and expressed himself pleased with' the appointments and drainage arrangements, though one or two slight alterations would have to be effected. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of J. E. Blade, land agent, was held at Carterton to-day. Bankrupt's deficiencies amounted to £227. He stated that his inability to meet his liabilities was largely duo to his wife's frequent and prolonged illnesses.. A motion to recommend the immediate discharge of the bankrupt was lost. It was resolved to have a valuation mode of the furniture, so that bankrupt could retain the amount allowed him under the Bankruptcy Act, During last month 119 cattle, 23 calves, 620 sheep and lambs, and 64 pigs were slaughtered at the Masterton abattoir. The receipts for the month amounted to £B3 Cs 6d. Mr E. Egan, father of Constable H. Egan, recently of Masterton and-Wellington, and now of Blackball, is lying seriously ill in hospital. ' ' - .
