ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL

A meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held on 'Wednesday evening, when there were present the Mayor (Mr J. G. Harkness), Councillors Lrceberg, Watson, Plimmer, Kiernan, Fitzgerald, and Aplin. Accounts to the amount of .£752 Sr lid were passed for payment. A deputation consisting of Messrs Brown and Weight, -introduced by their legal representative, Mr E. B. Williams, asked the Council to apply to the Public Works Department to allow the construction of a subway under the railway line at Crofton in place of a level crossing, the borough to undertake to maintain the roadway and the approaches. The council agreed to mret the views of the deputation in regard to this A resolution was passed that roads over 40ft in width and under 60ft should be exempted from the provision under the Public Works Act that on the snl> division of properties such roads should be laid out to the full width of 66ft. Councillor Fitzgerald gave notice that

at next meeting ho would move that the ratepayers of the borough be asked to sanction a loan for the purpose of acquiring suitable grounds for recreation purposes, and also for the purpose of establishing a public hall at Koiwarra.
