HOCKEY
SENIOR MATCHES. Tho matches in the first round woro continued on Saturday afternoon at Day’© Bay; Considerable improvement cn*tho piay of the opening matches was noticeable, .and most of the players arc now playing at the top of their form. Wellington (3) v. Victoria College (2). —This game was an interesting one, and there was very little difference between tho teams. The result was in doubt up to the laet minute. -The first, spell ended without score, but in the second Bcere and Fope for College and Bcere (2) and Patterson for Wellington found the net. The excellent keeping of Shulcy (Wellington) did much toward© his side’s victory. United (8) v. Vivian (I).—The red and whites won their game easily, ( their excellent forwards quite outclassing those of their opponents. Only once, toward the end of the game, when Thompson scored, did Vivian become all dan-, gorous. The scorers for 1 United were Hollis, Smythc, ElFofct, and Hirkett.
Junior Matches. At Day’s Bay Vivian (3) boat Karori (1); Y.M.C.A'. (4) beat Wesley (1). At Minima-, Tborndon (2) beat United (1); Wellington (5) beat St. Patrick’s College Old Boys (nil). Third Grad©. At Miramar, Y.M.C.A. (10) heat Wellington (nil); Thorndon B drew with Victoria College A, each side scoring ono goal; Thorndon A (3) beat Vivian (nil). ' LADIES’ MATCHES. Junior Grade.—At Miramar, Wellington drew with St. John's, each side coring one goal; Iviwi (15) defeated Wellington Girls’ College (nil). Third Grade.—Gamblers and Hmas drew, neither sidr scoring.
