INSURED FOE £2OOO. PB2SS ASSOCIATION. * LYTTELTON, April 6. The Blackball Coal Company’s bulk Blackball lay at the No. 4 wharf last night receiving coal from the s.s. Potone, and discharging coal into tho dredge At 8.30 p.m. the men working on the forward end of the hulk noticed an inrush of water, the vessel having sprung a' leak, it is supposed, through the opening of a scam. Tho water gained rapidly, and in twenty-five minutes the hulk sank in thirty feet of water. All on board got ashore. The hulk is insured for £2OOO in the Alliance office, £IOOO being on the hulk, and £IOOO on her cargo. She had 1300 ton* of coal on board when iho sank.
