buntings buildings burned. Mr Nash, leather and grindery merchant, of Cuba street, received a telegraphic message at 5.21 last evening, stating that his branch establishment in Manchester street), Christchurch, had been burned down at 3 o’clock yesterday morning, “with the others.” It is presumed, from the wording of tho message, that 'possibly tho whole of tho block is destroyed. Mr Nash’s business occupied one of five two-sbory brick premises, comprising a block known ,as Bunting’s Buildings. Tho other portions of the block were occupied by a boot merchant, a confectioner, an ironmonger, and a palmistry specialist, who was carrying on a temporary business there during tho Exhibition. The back of Mr Nash’s premises was contiguous to a brush factory. Tho information at hand gives no information as to tho origin of the outbreak. Mr Bunting, the owner of the block, is » Christchurch man. Mr Nash’s stock, roughly valued at CISOO, is insured with the Sun office .’or about £950.
