A BURSTING BOILER-TUBE ACCIDENT ON H.M.S. DREADNOUGHT. THREE MEN INJURED. By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright. (Received April 7, 5.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 0. By tho bursting of a boiler-tubo on H.M.S. Dreadnought throe stokers wore badly scalded on tho heads and backs. Tho men have boon removed to tho Haslar Naval Hospital, at Gosport, opposite Portsmouth. A STEAMER ASHORE. STRIKES A REEF AND IS BEACHED (Received April 7, 4.42 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 7. Gabo Island reports tiiat this morning, in thick weather, tho steamer Easby struck on the Skerries reef at half-pasi 3 o’clock. The bottom plates were seriously damaged, and as the water was .gaining rapidly, tho vessel was beached at Gabo harbour. Tho sea was smooth at the time tho mishap occurred. The Easby is a steamer of 1-IS9 tons, commanded‘by Captain Wallace and owned by the* IluUdart-Parkor Company. Gabo Island i-> off the coast of Cron jingolong county, tho most easterly part of Victoria. A BOATING FATALITY. TWO LIVES LOST. (Received April 8, 1.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 7. A boat containing nine men capsized three miles off Bondi, a suburb of Sydney, during a squallTwo —Jackman and Bassman —were drowned. Tho remainder drifted on tho upturned boat for two hours, and were rescued by the pilot steamer in an exhausted condition.
TAMAR RIVER TRAGEDY. BODIES RECOVERED FROM SUNKEN LAUNCH. LAUNCESTON, April 1 6. Five bodies of those lost ,in tho launch Alice, which was sunk by the steamer Togo in the Tamar river, have been recovered. THE WRECKED MILDURA. NOVEL POINT AT ISSUE. ADELAIDE, April 0. A unique position has arisen in connection with tho wreck, on. the West Australian coast, of the- A.U.S.N. Company’s steamer Mildura. After the crew left, a resident of Onslow boarded the ship, and ho now claims possession. According to shipping law, the vessel cannot be regarded as abandoned while anything alive is aboard, and somo of tho cattle are still alive. . Tho local manager of tho A.U.S.N. Company, , and Lloyds' surveyor, have since’ boarded the ship. Both parties claim possession, and are withstanding tho horrors of tho decomposing cattle in order to substantiate their claims. AN OVERDUE BARQUE. LONDON, April 5. The barque Brunei, from Newcastle to Chili, has been reinsured at 55 guineas. The Brunei is a barque of 1555 tons, commanded by Captain Malcolm, and left Newcastle for Callao, Peru, coalladen, on December Hath, so that she is uow 101 days out.
