Lord Cromer, Minister Plenipotentiary in Egypt, in his annual report on Egypt, describes Pun-islamism ns a prominent factor in the so-called nationalism of Egypt. He contends that all nations who have political interests in the East .should watch the movement carefully, and declares that tho adoption of tho Egyptian Nationalists’ suggestions for the creation of a Parliamentary institution to control tho finances would revive tiro uoist abuses, and would load to bankruptcy. Lord Crom iv confidently anticipates the ultimate establishment of a useful international Legislative Council representing all the inhabitants, irrespective of race and religion. Lord Cromer, in his report, quotes liis letter to the British Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, officially dispelling any doubt among the public of Egypt regarding the continuity of the British policy in Egypt and tho permanence of the British occupation.
