CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH. October 30. The Board of Governors of Canterbury College at a meeting to-day adopted a recommendation of tho college committee that a sum received from college students by way of special fines for recent breaches of * discipline should be expended in purchase of books for the college library. It was decided that owing to the inability of the Inspector-General or Schools to accede to the request of tho Board to undertake the examination of High Schools, ,this year, ordinary examinations should bo dispensed with, and arrangements should be made for examinations required for the allocation of prizes. Feeling reference was made to the death of Captain Hutton. The following motion was adopted That the Board of Governors of Canterbury College desire to place on record an expression of their profound sense of the loss suffered by the college by tho death of Professor Hutton. As' Professor of Biology, lecturer on geology, and curator of the Museum, Professor Hutton served tho college for twenty-five years with great ability, and the Board feel that .their sense of his great attainments ami their esteem for his memory will bo shared by the wlioi.p community.
