THE HUTT COUNTY.

At the invitation of Messrs R. Bould and P. Mungavin, retiring members (Porirua Riding) of . the Hntt County, who are . seeking re-elec-tion, a number of ratepayers attended a meeting held in Mrs An. ty's Hall, Porirua, last evening. Mr J. J. Pilkington was voted to the chair. Mr Bould, who is the present chairman of the council, gave a detailed account of matters pertaining to the council gener. ally, and gave replies to remarks made by Messrs Allen and Moore on Monday evening, refering to stone-crusher and engine. East road, county offices, etc., which are burning questions with some ratepayers of the county. Mr Mungavin gave his views on county matters. At the conclusion of the addressee questions were asked and answers given. Each candidate on the motion of Mr Mitchell, seconded by Mr R. Wall, received a unanimous vote of thanks.
