FIFTY YEARS AGO.
(From the “ New Zealand Independent,” July 18th, 1855.)
" By the overland mail we have received a copy of the ‘ Taranaki Herald ’ of the Itli instant. Another collision has taken place between the natives. One man was killed on one side, and one wounded on the other. Apprehensions were entertained by the settlers that a general outbreak was about to take place, and it was feared that any overt act on tho part of the inhabitants would involve them in the quarrel.”
