A GREAT EARTHQUAKE.

THE UPHEAVAL IN INDIA. HEAVY MORTALITY. (Received April 7, 10.20 p.m.) CALCUTTA, April 7. Extraordinary reverberations preceded the recent disastrous earthquakes in Upper India. The mountains and the heavens appeared to sway for a minute. There wore frequent and prolonged shocks. The worst shock was felt at Dharmsala, a hill station 110 miles north-east of Lahore, where 80 per cent of the population (some six or seven thousand persons) were killed or wounded.
