Tho principal character /Burton Barnes) is entrusted to Mr Oharlio Taylor, whoso versatility is well exempli fed by his efforts as the inimitable Barnes The picturesquencss of tlie plot, which is associated with a Corsican vendetta, appeals to those who prefer humour blended with dramatic interest without over-sensationalism. Miss Ella Carrington, as Marina Pauli, treats her part artistically, and was last night frequently applauded in tho more tragic scenes. Miss Muriel Murton makes a refined Enid Anstruther. Mr Ward Lyon as Count Danclla, Marina Pauli’s guardian, and Mr G. Paget as Tomasso acquit themselves with ability. The principals are well supported by the remainder of tho company. “Barnes of New York” will bo repeated to-night, and “Undo .Tom’s Cabin” will be produced to-morrow night. The Wellington Choral Society will meet for practice at the Dresden rooms this evening—sopranos and altos at 7.30 and tenors and basses at 8.30.
