PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, September 5. At tho University Council meeting, Mr .Tames Allen, Vice-Chancellor, referring to the Mining School, said an effort was being made to get a joint CanterbnryOtago deputation to wait on the Minister for Mines and tho Premier, to urge the continuance of the Mining School. After themselves, Canterbury favoured Otago as a site. Five students were granted diplomas, including Mr Andrew, the winner of the Exhibition Research Scholarship and Mr Thomson, winner of the Rhodes Scholarship. It was resolved to invite applications, for the proposed professor of physiology, at a salary of .£6OO per year, with half class fees, tho term to be for five years, an.d after that terminabe on cither side by six months’ notice Sir Michael Foster and Professors Schafer and Martin are to be asked to select a professor, with the Agent-General as arbitrator if they fail to agree.
