In the evening tho Native Land Law and Council buslines* were di.scn.ssed till a late hour. Tho Governor and party arrived at t p.m. on Tuesday, after a very rou"li journey. They aero received with great demonstrations of welcome. Tho mooting opened on Wednesday at 11. about a thousand natives being present. Most of the leading chiefs spoke. Ino Governor, iu opening the meeting, made a practical and impressive speech, lasting about an,.hour. As far as the native race i.s concerned, tho visit o» the Govornor to tho different tribes I*, 101 iininPrise good. Ho has dealt with the practical side of tho native question. Tho Governor sidJsequently left for Whakatanc. Tho Council started work next day. Most of the loading chiefs spoko in the evening. The Governor’s wpoooh was well received. AUCKLAND, March 18.
Tho Governor and party arrived at Rotorua to-day, and left by special train for Auckland.
Tiro Governor will leave on Monday on a visit to Ma.ngonui and Tvaipara, returning to Auckland iu about a week.

tho Governor was a great success, and Lord Ranfurly was delighted with his reception, and with what ho saw.
