H.M.S. Lizard sailed for Auckland yesterday morning. A new tail shaft for the Poherua is being brought up from the South by the Mararoa to-day.

The Union Company received advice that the Maponrika arrived at Greymouth at noon.yesterday from Wellington. She tailed on the return trip at 8 p.m. The brigantine Aratapu is to move-to the stream to-day preparatory to sailing for Greymouth, where she will load timber for Lyttelton. Mr R. IS. AVilliams, stores manager of the Union Company, has left Dunedin on a trip to England on tne company's business. , Mr Foulis, second officer of the Zealandia, is relieving Mr Reliant, chief officer of that vessel. Mr Alii let-, third officer, is acting-second officer. The Union Company's cargo steamer Pukaki is to sail at 10 o’clock this morning from Dunedin for Timaru. She is due to leave the latter port to-morrow afternoon, for Wellington direct. The barque Nelson, from Glasgow, completed the discharge of cargo for Dunedin at the Otago- port on Tuesday, and is loading ballast prior to coming on to Wellington with remainder of Glasgow cargo. ■ ' '

- The Now Zealand and African Steamship Company’s steamer Devon, which arrived at the Bluff at 8 a.m. yesterday from Sydney, will call at Timaru in addition to Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Platon and Wellington. The Tyser steamer Niwaru is. due lo sail from London oh April 7th for Australiaih and Now Zealand ports. Sho will make Auckland tho first port of call in the colony - The cable steamer Iris berthed at the Glasgow Wharf yesterday morning. She will probably return to Auckland to-day. The vessel is replete with tho moat modem gear for laying and picking up submarine cables.

The local agents for the A. and A. Lmo of cargo steamers, Messrs Kinsey, Bams and Co., are in receipt of advice stating that tho Anglo-Saxon saued from New York on Sunday last for New Zealand ports via Australia. , The agents for the Shaw, Savill and Albion lino r-eport that tho number of passengers booked up to date by the lonic, which is to sail from Wellington on March 31st for London, is 47 first, 54 second and 81 third-class, making a total of 182. '

The Union. Company’s steamer Herald, from the East Coast and Napier, is due at Wellington to-day. She is to sail on the return trip at 5 o’clock this afternoon.

The Tyser steamer Mimiro is to sail from Port Chalmers to-morrow for Wanganui to load frozen meat for London. She proceeds thence to Wellington, whore she is due about Friday next. The Mimiro will call next at Napier, Gisborne and Auckland, and will sail for London from Auckland about April 10th. The Union Company’s steamer Mararoa is advertised to run an excursion to and from, Pioton on Easter Monday. Tho Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Kumara sailed from Plymouth on Saturday last for Wellington. She is due about April 26th. The Maori, which sailed from, Lyttelton on January 37th. for London, arrived at her destination on Wednesday last. THE GRACIE BBAZLEY LINE. Johnston and Co.; Ltd., local agents for tho Gracie Beazley line of sailing vessels from Liverpool to Wellington and Dunedin, report that there are four of the company’s ships outward bound to Wellington. Tho barque Dumfriesshire'. 1142 tons. Captain W. J. Taylor, sailed from Liverpool on December Sth, is now 104 days out and may be expected to put in an appearance soon. She brings 13311 tons of general cargo to bo discharged at Wellington, and 862-J tons for Dunedin. She is followed by tne barque Anglo Norman, 822 tons. Captain 0. Abrahamsen, which sailed from Liverpool on December 30th. : The cargo for discharge at Wellington comprises 973 tons, and 553 tons for Dunedin. Tho barque Oban Bay, 999 tons, sailed from Liverpool on February sth for Wellington and Dunedin, and was followed by the barque Furst Bismarck, 932 tons, on Tuesdiy last. .
