CYCLE ROAD RACE.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHE.ISTGHTJECH, July 31 Considerable interest is being displayed in the Timaru to Christchurch road race, organised by the Dunlop Tyre Company .which is to take place on Saturday. Entries to tho number of 160 have been received from all parts of the colony, including districts as far north as .the Thames, and as far south os the Bluff. The backmarters comprise a very fino lot of riders, and it is expected that some remarkable performances will be recorded over the hundredmile course. The scratch men are A. Railston A. Caller. Q. Sutherland and 71. Connell, and tho handicapper has allotted starts up to 50 minutes. Tho winner of the race is to receive a new bicycle, whilst tho rider recording the fastest time is to be sent to Australia to represent the colour in the 'Warr-naTubool-Mclbourno road raco. Present indications aro that the roads on Saturday will be in bad order, as a result of tho heavy snowstorm and succeeding frosts in South Canterbury.
