GATHERING OF BURGHERS AT , HEIDELBERG. CAPETOWN, Jujly 3. Two thousand Dutchmen attended a meeting convened by General Botha at Heidelberg, in the Transvaal. The correspondent of the “Standard” says that General Botha’s tone was aggressively hostile. He complained that British pledges as to an amnesty were unfulfilled, and expressed a hope for a complete amnesty within a fortnight. The taal, he said, was treated as a foreign language. Boer teachers ought *■o conduct education, for Dutchmen must bo retained in the land. The moderate party here regard the meeting as the initiation of a highly dangerous movcihent. LABOUR ON THE RAND. CAPETOWN, Jujly 3. Sir Gordon Sprigg says that good and comfortable treatment in tho Transvaal would suffice to attract native labourers. General Botha’s Dutch meeting at Heidelberg, Transvaal, condemned the introduction of Chinese labour.
