REFORM IN VICTORIA. THE TASMANIAN CABLE. MELBOURNE, February 5. The Victorian Legislative Council struck out of tho Reform Bill tho clause providing for the dissolution of the Council when the Bill became law, and carried an amendment fixing the number of members at 42 instead of 2G. It is now stated that tho amount asked for tho Tasmanian cable is £70,000, not between £200,000 and £300,000, as stated yesterday. * THE FEDERAL CUSTOMS. BRISBANE, February 5. At a meeting of the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce the members hotly condemned the federal tariff, and Mr Kingston’s “brutal and insulting” administration of the Customs Department. In order to show their disgust, they decided to ignore Mr Kingston’s visit to Brisbane. THE LABOUR CONFERENCE. SYDNEY, February 5. The Labour Conference has closed. It adopted a resolution condemning the addition of the title of “Lord” to tho Mayoralty .as another link in the chain of objectionable Imperialism, in every way opposed to the best interests of the community.
