LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.
* PKESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND. February 3. It is understood that the Government lias acquired Messrs Colbeck Bros/ property for closer settlement. The estate, which consists of, about 12,000 acres of limestone and sandstone country is situated between Whakapiru and Maungaturoto, in Otamatea county, and on tbs" Kaipara waters. It is essentially cattls country, but it is believed tho Government intends to try viticulture on soma of the property. Tho cutting up of this estate should give further impetus to tho dairying, industry, which has recently been started in the district with marked siweess.
