WANGANUI NEWS
Special to the “Times.” WANGANUI, February 4.
The following team has been selected to represent the Easttown Eire Brigade at the demonstration at Napier:—Foreman A. Holmes (captain). Firemen P. Keegan, H. Harris, G. Holland and H. G. S. Wilson.
After months of consideration and numerous meetings the Hospital Board to-day shelved the question of the erection of a nurses' home, Mrs Williamson alone opposing a motion that the plans prepared be allowed to lie on the table. The Board’s architect submitted plans for the erection of a building having twenty bedrooms, eacb 12ft by Bft, sitting and diningrooms, kitchen, etc., estimated to cost i£lsoo, with an extra .£2OO for excavating and drainage.. Old age pensioners who are in the habit of over-indulging in intoxicants should take warning from a ease heard at the Police Court this morning, when Mr H. Eyre Kenny, S.M.. cancelled the pension of Ann Nealy, who was also convicted of drunkenness, the third offence within the past six months. The ground of the cancellation was that the accused wasted and lessened her estate. Her daughter was yesterday committed for trial for using indecent language.
