In the course of a speech at Edinburgh, Lord Balfour of Burleigh, Secretary for Scotland, said .the colonies recognised that the disposition of the national forces must naturally ho directed from London, after consultation with them. Lord Onslow, Under-Secretary to the Colonial Office, speaking at Glasgow, declared that tho idea o-f an Australian navy was prevalent in certain quarters in Australia, but ho hoped wiser counsels would prevail. If Australians wished for representation and'asked to be admitted to Britain’s counsels, he could answer for tho- sort of reception they would receive at tho bands of tho Government. (Cheers).
