REJOICINGS ON TUB GOLDFIELDS.

(Received January 26, 1.10 a.m.) COOL-GAUD IK, January 23. The groat scheme for supplying tho goldfields with water is now an accomplished fact. Saturday was a red-letter day. On the previous day two special trains conveyed Sir John Forrest (federal Defence Minister) Sir William Lyno (federal Home Secretary), Mr Reid and other members of tho federal Parliament ■ and a largei number of visitors from Perth. The influx was so great that many had to sleep in the trains and in tents. The town was gaily decorated, and there was much enthusiasm. . Sir John and Lady Forrest's carnage, drawn by twenty-four schoolboys, headed an imposing procession. The ceremonies of turning on the water at the various centres were performed bv Lady Forrest and the Mayoresses of Cooigarclie KalgoOrlie and Boulder City, and that of turning it into the great dam by Sir John. Forrest. . AVater is now everywhere abundant in the townships at ninepence per hundred gallons, instead of, as previously, three shillings ami sixpence and upwards per hundred gallons for condensed.
