PROTEST CONCERNING THE FODDER DUTIES. SYDNEY, November 29. The Premier (Six' John See) lias forwarded the resolutions adopted by the Assembly regarding tho drought to Sir Edmund Barton, calling special attention to tlioso dealing with tho remission of duties. Sir John Soo hag also siont a communication to tho Queensland 'Premier xx'ho has promised to bring similar resolutions before tho State Parliament. . The proposed remission of duties has had a disturbing effect on tho local produce market, where it is generally regarded xv'th disfavour. Breadstuff's - aro irregular and transactions aro comparatively small. It is stated that some largo grain orders previously sent to America havo been cancelled, or aro held in abeyance, ponding developments. ADELAIDE, November 20. Tho Hon. Air Jenkins, Premier, addressing a meeting, said ho did not think it was fully realised what -.was meant by New South Wales asking for tho suspension of duties. If tho federal Government assumed tho powers of tho Executive of any State, and suspended duties, it meant that' tho federal compact xvas a farce, and tho sooner federation xvas ended tho bottom They must stand up for State rights. Tho President of tho Chamber of Commerce, in endorsing the Premier’s remarks, asked him to go a stop further, and urge tho establishment of a proper Judiciary in order to prevent those illegal acts.
