OPERA HOUSE. “ The Thirty Thieves ” was repeated at tho Opera House last night. Tho incidental singing and dancing were punctuated by frequent recalls. Tho principals were ably assisted by tho remainder of the company, and tho brilliant’ “ porcelain procession ” again proved quite a feature of tho opera. “ The- Thirty Thieves ” will bo staged again to-night. DIX’S GAIETY COMPANY. Tho present combination is meeting with a good reception nightly at tho Thcatro Royal. Tho acrobatic “turn” of Morris and Wilson “brought down tho house ” last night. These artists aro undoubtedly in tho front rank ox acrobatic comedians. Their work is decidedly original. Messrs Clark, Cowan and Rowley kept tho audience amused, and the performances of Miss Olive I/onton, Miss Jeunio Johnstone and Mr Millar Fraser wore very much admired. Tho bioscope projected some.now and amusing pictures. The programme concluded with a laughable sketch entitled “Baffled.” To-morrow night tho Gallardi Sisters, song and dance artist of exceptional merit, will appear. . “A RUNAWAY GIRL.” Mr J. C. Williamson’s Musical Comedy Company arrives from Sydney by the Monowai to-night, and will commence a season at tho Opera House on Friday evening with tho first production in this city of the successful, musical comedy, “'A Runaway Girl.” The great interest which is being taken by the playgoing public in the forthcoming season was manifested by the excellent booking of seats when tho box plan was opened at the Dresden rooms yesterday morning. Within one hour of the opening of the plan nearly two hundred seats wore reserved. “A Runaway Girl” is heralded by a reputation that has probably not been surpassed by that of any other musical comedy for the past two years. Its popularity in Australia may well load Wellington theatregoers to expect a treat. The cast is an exceptionally strong ‘ one, and the scenic accessories, dressing and mounting are said to bo on a most lavish, scale. A ping-pong tournament in aid of St. Paul’s Kindergarten School was commenced in the Sydney street schoolroom last night, before a. large audience. Trie final heats are to ho played this evening. Tho Garrison Band will poceed on Sunday afternoon over to Day’s Bay, and during tho afternoon, will discourse selections on the lawn. Tho innovation should prove an extra attraction to this popular resort.
