PERSONAL.
The Hon C. H. Mills will leave today for Blenheim. Ho will be away from Wellington, for a few days. Hie private secretaries of the Cabinet Ministers yesterday presented tokens of their goodwill to Mr F. D. Thomson, who is accompanying the Premier to London as private secretary. Mr H. D. Pike, who has been for some time in the service of Mr C. Smith, of Cuba street, has been appointed drapery manager of the United Farmers’ Co-operative Association at Palmerston North. Miss Batham, of Nelson, has been appointed assistant teacher at the Wellington Girls’ High School. Miss Batham, who is a daughter of Judge Batham, of the Native Validation
Among tho passengers to arrive from Sydney by the s.s. Taluno to-morrow is Mr C. A. W. Moncktoh, son of Dr Monckton, of Feilding, who is returning on a visit to his native country after several years’ absence. Mr Monckton has for tho last two years been Senior Resident Magistrate for the NorthEastern Division of British New Guinea. Mr Beattie, secretary of the National Dairy Association, will leave for London early next month. Tho visit is principally of a private nature, but while in England Mr Beattie will investigate all matters affecting tho colony’s dairy produce trade, including such questions as the methods of discharge, handling and distribution in London. Mr Boattio will also endeavour to visit tho principal centres in Great Britain which our produce docs not reach, and on his way back may possibly visit the South African; markets. In Mr Beattie’s absence the work of the National Dairy Association will be undertaken by Mr Francis Shaw.
