rifESS ASSOCIATION. , AUCKLAND, January 16. At the statutory conference of Joqal bodies yesterday afternoon, Wednesday was recommended us the day for the observance ot the luili-hoiiday. OAItTEKTUN; January 16. Replying to the member for Wairarupa (Mr J. T. M. Hornsby), the Premier says ho will recommend Lord Milner to place an order in this colony for young cattle, but he fears the price will be a bar. Mr Hornsby, in reply, points out that our cattle are free from tick or contagious disease, and also that there is at present a scarcity in Queensland. NELSON, January 16. At the annual meeting of the Nelson Poultry Association tho report showed a profit on last show and assets aggregating .£3-0. Mr Macquarie was elected a life member in recognition of past serv ices. Various committees are very busily engaged completing arrangements for tho public celebrations during the first week in February, and there is every indication that there will be a largo number of visitors hero. Mr T. Humphries, Commissioner of Crown Lands, who received a special vote of thanks recognising his good services at tho last mooting of tho Land Board, was entertained at a social gathering tonight.
