(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondents.) GHEYTOWN, August ?. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union last night it was decided to nominate E. Mackenzie (full-back) and J, Jury (forward) for (the New Zealand team, in addition to Udy, Armstrong, and ,T. McKenzie. The fleam for the northern tour will be stronger than the one that mot Wellington. CARTERTON. August 2. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union last evening it was resolved, with regard to the cases of Wrigley and Marsh, that as the New Zealand Union, had decided that the Masterton Football Club had acknowledged the liability of the players the Wairarapa Union should not recognise the club until the default to the union was discharged. August 2, At a meeting of the Rugby Union last night the cases of those players who did' not play in the representative team last Saturday were considered. The secretary reported he had written to each player asking for an explanation, and had received, four replies. The other players were in attendance to give their reasons for not playing. It was resolved that the explanations of Mcßae, Symes (2) and G. Thompson should be accepted. The cases of Seeling and_ Price, of the Pirates, were then considered. The secretary of the Pirates’ Football Club was first called, and in reply to questions, stated that he did not know why the Pirate players chosen in the represents, tive team did not play. No meeting of, the committee of the club was held with regard to the matter. He declined to say whether there was any entry in the club’s minute book as to their members not playing in the representative team. When asked if he was willing to produce the minute book he refused to give a reply. Two of the Pirate players. Price arid Seeling, then appeared before tha committee in turn. In reply to questions, both of them stated that they did not intend to play for the represents, tives because of the 'unfair treatment by the union. Before retiring both of these players indulged in a tirade against the Management Committee, and one of the referees. After a short discussion, it was unanimously resolved that Price and Seeling be suspended from playing foot, ball for five years from the 27th. July, 1901, for refusing to play for the repro. sento fives and for abusive conduct before the Management Committee of the union. The secretary then read a letter he hadreceived just before the meeting from the secretary of the Pirates Football Club raiipning from the union. After some cog Bideration, it was resolved that the resiga,tion be held in abeyance for the present.

The volunteer football tournament of the Wellington Rifle Battalion will be played on the Athletic Park this after, noon. Four games in all wijl be contested. Tba Wellington representatives will play a match at Christchurch this af. ternoon against the Canterbury representative team. The Marlborough team will meet Wairarapa this afternoon, on the ground of the latter. TO-DAY’S MATCHES.
