ACCIDENTS.
To the frightful condition, of the Hutt road has now to be added the additional terror of falling debris from above. A Wellington resident, who was driving iw from Petone yesterday, had a very nar-' row escape near Ngahauranga. _ A heavy mass of stone fell from the cliff to the roadway within ten yards of the horse. The startled animal promptly wheeled round and bolted, but was brought up without doing any damage. ‘ PEESS ASSOCIATION. ASHBURTON, August 2. Early this morning an old pensioner, James Harris, was found dead in a water race at Allentown, near Ashburton. Ho was partially under a culvert, and hud the key of his house in his hand.
