The census of the Indian Empire, winch has just been brought to a conclusion, is perhaps the greatest statistical feat ever performed. During the night of March Ist the population of a tract as large.as all Europe, Russia excepted, was ascertained, and a fortnight later the Government was able to summarise the same. The results show that the population of India has only risen in 10 years from 287.000,000, to 294,000,000.
