ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION.

VOYAGE OF THE DISCOVERY. LONDON, June 27.* In connection with the voyage of the exploring ship Discovery ta the Antarctic regions, it is announced that Professor George Murray, director and scientist of tho expedition, does not proceed beyond Melbourne. Professor Murray and Captain Scott, the commander of the ship, will there appoint the principal members of the staff to conduct the scientific work on lines laid down by Professor _ Murray, who will afterwards act as editor. , The commander has been instructed to explore the Ross ice barrier to discover land which is believed to flank fhe barrier eastward, and to solve the physical and geographical questions relating tp ice formation. Captain Scott has discretionary power to either winter on the ioe or to land a party between Capes Johnson and Crozier, after consulting the director as to a suitable spot.
