VALUATIONS REDUCED. (Ev Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) w ' Thursday. 7 p.m. _ Reports are current that rather son-* ous irregularities have been discovered! in the affairs of a local body not a hundred miles from Dannevirke. Ids. closures are expected shortly. In accordance with the recommends-* tion of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club, the Woodlands Hunt Club has altered the date of its Steeplechase Meeting to At a meeting of the Central District Farmers’ Union, representatives wore present from all parts of the district. Mr Glass, the organising secretary, de-. livered a lengthy address on the platform, of the union. Four delegates were ap-, pointed to attend the conference at Palmerston. . . The Assessment Court gave judgment in numerous cases before it to-day. in. four cases the valuations were sustained and in others the unimproved value was reduced. Most of the /editions in the Umutaoroa and Smith and Gad, man’s blocks. The Government Valuer announced-that in oner iustice all valuations in those blocks would be reduced to bring them into line with the Courts decision.
